A contemporary Japanese glass Joro spider (Trichonephila clavata). The spider's name comes from the jorogumo, of Japanese folklore in which the spider can transform into a beautiful woman who can breathe fire and control other spiders. She seeks men to seduce, whom she then binds in her silk and devours.
